Karma doing a puja

Sikkim, a former kingdom, is a Buddhist state in northern India, next to the Tibet border. Mt Kanchenjunga is visible from every hilltop and is the protecting deity of Sikkim. Most mountains and lakes are considered sacred and temples have been built near them.

Great new accommodation at Chickadee Acres Bed and Breakfast near Smithers, where you have a comfortable bedroom with views of the mountains, more trails to hike or ski starting from the house and it is a bird watchers paradise.

skizee testing in Kimberley

This versatile, compact and powerful machine is all you need to take you to the outdoors. Designed originally for ski patrol use, the SKIZEE is rugged and safe.
A new invention by 2 skiers working in Kimberley, BC.
Testing it here in Kimberley, it has been used on logging roads and in the bush west of Kimberley this winter, works really well and is great fun - sells for $2500.

The size is about 40" long and the chain is 11" to 13" wide. the skizee needs about 2' clearance for trail skiing.

The total weight is around 100 pounds, easy to lift into a car, or out of deep snow.

it has a gas tank that holds 4 l regular gas, it can travel over 30 km with this gas tank. 10 hp 4 stroke engine.

Speed is 15 - 25 km/hr depending on terrain.

It has a 12V battery for electric start, and a power outlet in the handle for plugging in any charger or headlamp.

The skizee is great for fast access to skiing terrain, that requires a long tedious ski along a logging road. It is also useful as a trail breaker and trailpacker for xc skiing.

And of course it is great fun to use on skis, especially in areas where there are no big ski hills nearby.

They live under basic living conditions with help from the villagers. The monastery desparately needs a new kitchen to be built, to be able to feed the novices and teachers properly.

yak in Yumthang valley

Northern Sikkim, near the Tibet border, a valley at 12,000 ft full of yaks and rhododendron forests, blooming in the spring.
Hiking in the valley and forests, to snowy slopes and across the bridge to a small house with a hot springs pool inside. A heavenly place!

Hiking to the hot springs, with arrangements and permits obtained through Saga Renjyong Tours and Travel (Gangtok), their excellent service is highly recommended.
